Streetwise Harlequins are praised by Dean Richards

Dean Richards hailed his "streetwise" Harlequins side as they sunk play-off rivals Bath 19-3.

Quins battled superbly to consign the hosts to their first Premiership defeat at the Recreation Ground since September.

"Defensively, we were outstanding, but we have been all season. It is such an important area of the game," said director of rugby Richards. "I also thought we had Bath on toast in the scrum during the first half, and the guys have really grown in stature over the last year.

"They are soaking it up, they are loving it. They have become far more streetwise now, and there is a confidence in the side."

Quins notched a first-half penalty try, with former Bath player Chris Malone kicking 11 points and Danny Care landing a late drop-goal.

London Irish maintained their play-off hopes and relegated Bristol by claiming a 38-21 victory over the West Country side.
