Kinane, who has been champion 11 times, managed a thrilling victory with dual Derby hero High Chaparral in the Breeders' Cup Turf in America, but he came in for plenty of criticism when losing on Rock of Gibraltar and Hawk Wing.
The Ballydoyle set-up, bred on success, does not take defeat lightly and any chink Kinane's armour reveals in future will make him as vulnerable as David Seaman in his goalkeeping job for England and Arsenal.
However, at Leopardstown yesterday, Kinane showed no signs of jet-lag when scoring on Ice Dancer, one of the lead horses at Ballydoyle.
