Spurs in for Dons forward

Tottenham are poised to seal the signing of Wimbledon's talented youngster Lionel Morgan for £350,000 - a deal that will enable his team-mates to be paid for the first time in two months.

Wimbledon's financial problems mean Morgan will be sold for substantially less than the £750,000 Spurs offered for the 19-yearold forward last year.

But the fee will result in the rest of the Dons squad receiving their first pay packets since April.

Meanwhile, Glenn Hoddle today hit back at reports that Wales international Simon Davies has asked to leave the club.

The Spurs manager returned from holiday to discover that Davies, who has also been on a family break, was allegedly unhappy at White Hart Lane and was supposed to have informed Hoddle of his decision last week.

But Hoddle said: "This is just total rubbish. Simon's future at Spurs is not an issue. We did not have a meeting about this and Simon has not said anything to me. We have both been away on holiday before returning for preseason training this week."
