Spurs fine Keane £10,000

Robbie Keane has been fined £10,000 and warned about his future conduct at Tottenham after a touchline bust-up with Martin Jol

The Spurs vice-captain has also been made to train with the youth team as punishment for his public show of dissent during the 1-1 draw at Birmingham on Saturday.

Keane, who earns £40,000 a week, was furious with head coach Jol for choosing not to send him on as a second-half substitute as Spurs went in search of a winner.

The 71st-minute introduction of Mido, in place of injured defender Noureddine Naybet, provoked an angry reaction from the Republic of Ireland star, who stormed off down the tunnel. There were also suggestions that he mouthed obscenities in the direction of the bench.

At that stage Keane knew he would not be playing any part in the match because Stephen Kelly and Sean Davis had already been used as substitutes.

After the game, Jol said: "It's not about Robbie Keane, it's about the club. Maybe Robbie was angry but it's not a problem for us, it's his problem. It was difficult enough as it was."
