Jana's running flat out

Australia's double world hurdles champion Jana Rawlinson has no problem making decisions, it's sticking with them that seems to be the problem.

The 27-year-old is set to re-marry former British hurdler Chris Rawlinson after the couple, who tied the knot in 2006, were divorced in May. And now Jana has had her surgically-enhanced breasts reduced to improve her chances of winning an Olympic medal in London. "When I raced I panicked about whether I was letting my country down, all for my own vanity," said Rawlinson. "I loved the bigger boobs but I'm back to being flat as a pancake."

If only more athletes cared about performance above appearance. Good luck in 2012 Jana.

Gilbert's shot at glory

The latest tale to catch our eye from across the pond surrounds NBA star Gilbert Arenas.

You'd think a man with a six-year contract worth £69million would dedicate himself to throwing a ball into a hoop. You'd be wrong. Arenas has been suspended indefinitely following a string of misdemeanours. Four days before Christmas, Arenas took four guns into the Washington Wizards dressing room. Then, he and a team-mate "unloaded" their fire arms during an argument.

The final straw came when Arenas, somewhat misguidedly, pointed his index fingers at team-mates as if they were guns before a game this week.

At least Arenas has admitted: "My attempts at humour showed terrible judgement."
