Liam Heath is competing in the flat-water sprint canoeing over the new 200 metre Olympic distance

1. Liam was first introduced to kayaking at the age of 10 as part of a fun holiday week.

2. He has a degree from Loughborough University in Industrial Design and Technology.

3. He began to train as part of the G.B. team in 2009, entering his first season in 2010 by competing in the 200metres.

4. He can name and make more than 150 cocktails after having worked briefly as a cocktail waiter!

5. His haul includes two World Cup Gold medals and Silver at two World Cup events this year.

6. After completing his degree, Liam took a few years break and said: "It re-ignited my passion for the sport and my ambitions to compete in an Olympic Games

7. His competing partner in the Men's K2 200 metres is Jon Schofield.

8. Liam and Jon are the current European champions.

9. At the European Champions in Belgrade, Serbia last year, Liam and Jon won Gold in a time of 32.487 seconds.

10. The pair took Gold at the European Canoe Sprint Championship in June, making it their third European title in a row.
