Composers looking for Olympics inspiration

The search is on to find 20 pieces of new music, each lasting 12 minutes, inspired by sport, to be showcased in the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Festivals, promoters, performance groups and organisations have a month to submit ideas for the New Music 20x12 project.

Composer Judith Weir, journalist Kevin Le Gendre, composer and performer Errollyn Wallen, producer Joana Seguro and DJ Rita Ray will judge the submissions with BBC Radio 3 controller Roger Wright as chairman. Up to £10,000 is available to support each work.

The scheme is being organised by the funding body PRS for Music Foundation in partnership with the BBC, LOCOG (the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) and the charity Sound and Music.
