Infallible looked to have a chance two furlongs out in the Guineas but didn't appear to see out the mile whereas Spacious, under jockey Jamie Spencer, appeared to need every inch of the trip.
Nahoodh endured a nightmare passage-when fifth in the Newmarket Classic, but subsequently ran well below par in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and could struggle to recapture her best form here on her first run for new trainer Mark Johnston.
Lush Lashes and Muthabara also finished behind Spacious on the Rowley Mile and there is nothing to suggest why either filly should turn the tables. The unknown quantity of the race is Modern Look, who bids to become the first French winner since Banks Hill took this prize in 2001.
If the heavens were to open as they did prior to this contest 12 months ago, the David Smaga-trained filly would have a major chance as she loves ease in the going.
Modern Look won nicely last time out but was unlucky to meet Natagora and Zarkava in her two previous races. However, Natagora disposed of Modern Look with far greater ease in the Prix Impudence at Maisons-Laffitte in April than she did Spacious in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Fanshawe has shown great patience with Spacious and tomorrow this no-rush approach looks like being rewarded with one of the top fillies' prizes in the racing calendar.
