Sorry Barnet crash out of League

An abject first half performance from Barnet in their crucial match with Torquay saw the London side relegated from the Football League this afternoon.

Needing to win the clash against their nearest Division Three relegation rivals, Barnet crashed to a 3-0 half time deficit. Goals from Jason Rees, Kevin Hill and David Graham put Torquay, needing only a draw to be safe, firmly in charge by the break.

Barnet even compounded the agony by missing a penalty with the score only 2-0, David Currie fluffing the chance to give his side hope.

The home side at least put in an improved second half performance, strikes from Heald and a Green own goal giving them an outside chance of survival.

But the remaining two goals needed to prevent relegation did not materialise, and the final whistle sparked scenes of joy and despair in equal measure, with the travelling Torquay fans celebrating keeping their league status at Barnet's expense.
