Sodje, whose brothers Efe and Akpo play for Huddersfield, said: "It has been a good month. We have done well in the league and the Cup game was a great experience.
"The Southampton away game was the biggest game of my career so far but, hopefully, there is more to come. I was always convinced in my own ability and that one day something would happen. I am just glad the manager was prepared to give me a chance and that the other players have all taken to me so well.
"It was a shame we couldn't win the replay against Southampton [which they lost 3-1]. We had chances. We were 1-0 up and if we could have got another goal before half-time, it would have changed everything. But we tried our best and it just didn't work out for us against a Premiership side."
Brentford had a double incentive to beat Southampton. Not only were they set for a quarter-final with Manchester United, but the players were also promised a luxurious three-day break in the United Arab Emirates as a reward for their Cup heroics.
Even though the result didn't go their way, the club still decided to allow the holiday (with flights supplied by Griffin Park sponsor Qatar Airways) and Allen's squad jetted off to Abu Dhabi after last Saturday's win at Colchester.
Sodje said: "We were very surprised because we lost the game, but it was very good of the club to say we could still go.
"The weather was very hot, we were in a five-star hotel with first- class treatment, it was like our own little village. The trip definitely brought us together more as a team and it should help us. We now just hope to get something from this season.
"The Cup run is history, but, hopefully, it can be the play-offs and promotion. We have games in hand but that doesn't guarantee the points, we need to make sure we win them."
Brentford sit in seventh place going into tomorrow's match at Doncaster, but have three games in hand on many of their playoff rivals.
Midfielder Chris Hargreaves is back in contention following a calf injury and the club have also been boosted by oneyear contract extensions for Tabb and Eddie Hutchinson. Away from the pitch, chairman Eddie Rogers has concluded an internal review into the ticket fiasco ahead of the Southampton game.
He did not recommend sacking any officials over the debacle which saw hundreds of loyal fans miss out on tickets for the St Mary's match, but admitted: "We were poorly prepared and this resulted in honest mistakes being made in many areas of operation."
The club have now advertised for a full-time chief executive.
