Scots to play by the book

Scotland today dismissed claims by Australia that they would resort to violent tactics in a desperate bid to beat the reigning World Cup holders.

Saturday's quarterfinal in Brisbane had been overshadowed by claims of spying on Scotland's behind-closeddoors training sessions and now a new row has blown up.

Australia coach Eddie Jones, who normally tries to influence referees through the media, stayed true to form by claiming Ian McGeechan's teams "generally come up with a few things to ensure the game is played differently".

However, McGeechan, who is quitting after the World Cup, laughed off the insults saying: "It seems that Eddie Jones is worried about us given the things he is saying."
