Rusedski keeps his cool

There were no verbal fireworks this time from Greg Rusedski but the result was the same as he crashed to another defeat to Andy Roddick in the Legg Mason Classic in Washington.

Rusedski, who this year has already lost to the American at Queen's and in the infamous match at Wimbledon where he berated the umpire over a disputed line call, was beaten 6-3, 7-6.

Roddick said: "Wimbledon was far out of my mind. He blew up and it was an incident but I like to think at two sets up I was going to win that match anyway. This time was just me playing Greg another time."

British No1 Tim Henman, the 10th seed in Washington, fared better as he moved through to the quarter-finals after beating eighth seed Nikolay Davidenko of Russia 6-3, 6-4.

Henman will now play third seed Paradorn Srichaphan in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Thai Srichaphan got past 16th seed Brian Vahaly of America 7-6, 6-4 and is in good form having reached the final last week in Indianapolis, where he was beaten by Roddick.

However, Henman has a strong record against Srichaphan, winning four of the five matches they have played.
