Gatland is hooked on Priestland

Warren Gatland has praised the contribution of Wales fly-half Rhys Priestland and backed the 24-year-old to repeat last week's impressive display against England tomorrow.

Priestland had been named at full-back last week but was given just two minutes' notice he would be starting at No10 after Stephen Jones suffered a calf injury in the warm-up and was forced to pull out of the Twickenham clash.

The Scarlets playmaker went on to produce an assured performance in a losing cause and has been handed another opportunity to showcase his skills at the Millennium Stadium.

Head coach Gatland said: "We were impressed with Rhys Priestland and we felt he deserved another chance.

"We could have looked at James [Hook] at 10 and that is something we could well look at next week.

"Everyone is in the frame for selection. For a youngster who was told two minutes before kick-off he was moving position, to play that well under pressure was impressive. We want to see how Rhys goes and we'd like to think James will get an opportunity at 10 next week."

Hook starts at full-back with Leigh Halfpenny also struggling with an ankle problem as Wales go in search of revenge for last weekend's 23-19 defeat.
