Robinson, who earns £20,000 a week, is believed to have taken a cut of around £5,000 a week when he left Leeds for £1.5m last summer. His Spurs contract has three years left to run.
Robinson could be playing behind a new face in the Spurs defence at Liverpool tomorrow. Injuries to Noureddine Naybet (hamstring) and Anthony Gardner (foot) may mean a debut for Michael Dawson alongside King in central defence.
The former Nottingham Forest defender, 21, joined Spurs last January in an £8m double deal with winger Andy Reid but has yet to play due to a shin injury.
Along with Naybet, Thimothee Atouba (ban), Michael Brown (foot), Mido (stomach) and Pedro Mendes (toe) are all ruled out.
Defoe missed training yesterday with a sore throat so Robbie Keane is on standby to start alongside Fredi Kanoute.
