Robinson: I wasn't worried being full back

You've got to make the right decisions. You know you're the last man and if they catch you, there's a turnover and it's goodnight. It's as simple as that.

You just have to take the ball, look up and s e e w h a t' s o n . I f there's a blanket coming towards you, get rid of it. If not, then just have a go.

But, above all, you've got to be confident. I've always been a confident player, wanting to run and take people on. I think that's something I've got that maybe some people don't have.

I sensed a big cheer when my first kick found touch. Just because I hardly kicked at all in rugby league doesn't mean I can't or that I'm afraid to. I didn't kick much because I decided the right option was to run it - and thankfully I made more good decisions than bad.

I could sit back and kick every ball, but it would be of no benefit to the team. As on Saturday, by running it back we get over the advantage line and create space everywhere.

Despite all that was being said about me and my position before the game, I managed to shut most of it out. It's best not to read many newspapers.

I hear a lot from people, but it's all about trying to cut yourself off mentally as much as you can throughout the week.

In the match, you can't have the thoughts of this newspaper or that newspaper clogging up your mind with negativity. I felt good on Saturday. My mind was clear and I could just go out and play.

For that, I have to thank my club, Sale. I didn't realise it at the time, but when I got back from the Lions tour I was shot to pieces. The last Lions Test in Sydney was my 60th game last season. After Sale's first game I started picking up colds and felt really low for a week or two.

Sale could easily have made me play all the games, but they didn't and I was able to rest. That made all the difference and I felt fresh.

It was important to get our momentum back after losing in Ireland. It doesn't matter who you are, all teams lose - even Australia, the world champions. It's not about never losing, it's about rising when you fall.

I think we did that.
