Although frustrated by his stance on Wednesday, Mourinho understands Robben's predicament and has resolved to strictly ration his playing time until the end of the season.
Mourinho is keen for the player to start against Liverpool in the return leg but that could also depend on whether Duff has recovered from his injury in time.
The tension between the two sides was turned up today as Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen was accused of taunting Xabi Alonso after the Reds star was booked during the first leg.
The yellow card, which came after referee Alain Sars judged Alonso had fouled Gudjohnsen, ruled the Spanish midfielder out of the second leg.
Gudjohnsen defended himself, saying: "It's disappointing for him to get a yellow card but it's not my decision. I'd never try to get a fellow pro booked."
