Rangers earn draw at Stockport

Queens Park Rangers earned themselves a point from the penalty spot last night in a bad-tempered 1-1 draw at Stockport.

Rangers had four men booked and Stockport had assistant manager Kevin Richardson sent from the dugout for dissent.

Luke Beckett's 62nd-minute header put the home side ahead, but then Karl Connolly levelled from the spot nine minutes later.

Paul Furlong was held in the box by Peter Clark and Connolly's powerful penalty went in off the inside of the left post.

Richardson lost his temper after a free-kick went against County and, because of his persistent arguing with the referee's assistant, he was dismissed from the dugout.

Manager Ian Holloway said: "I felt we were the better side throughout the game. Some of our football was delightful. We created more than enough chances to win and when they scored it didn't affect us. We carried on and got a deserved goal. We didn't get what we deserved, but the application was there. We can build on that performance."
