He re-established himself as Mick Channon's No 1, and has impressed with his cool, brainy, approach to race-riding. Look out for him on Classic-bound filly Queen's Logic.

FLAT TRAINER: Marcus Tregoning.

He guided Nayef back to glory after the colt appeared to be a talking horse following a brilliant two-year-old career.
His quiet, patient approach seems to transfer to his horses and there should be many more Group successes for his main owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.

JUMP JOCKEY: Timmy Murphy.

Those who have watched his steady rise from the early days have been astonished by the amount of maturity he is now showing.
His style of riding oozes class and he has won many races he could well have lost. Almost the complete package, and the one the trainers want if A P McCoy is not available.

FLAT APPRENTICE: Sam Hitchcott.

Based with Mick Easterby, he is just like his big brother, Ben, the jump jockey - never seeming to know when he is beaten and avid to learn. Great value for the weight he takes off a horse's back.

CONDITIONAL JUMP JOCKEY: Andrew Garrity.

Perhaps he did not quite get the opportunities he deserved at Richard Rowe's stable. Now with Mary Reveley, he is at last switching into gear and riding winners. In my book, the best 7lb claimer over obstacles.
