Quins feel pinch as Leicester bite back

Fittingly for a player stranded on 999 Premiership points, Tim Stimpson feels unfulfilled. The Leicester full back wants international success after enjoying two European Cup wins and four Premiership titles in a row.

Stimpson scored the Tigers' final try in a 30-6 win against Harlequins at Welford Road on Saturday that put them back on track after their dismal defeat at Leeds. Yet by missing the conversion he was left a point short of being the first man to four figures in the Premiership.

The formality will no doubt be completed at Sale on Friday, leaving Stimpson - selected in Clive Woodward's 50-man England training squad last week - to concentrate on resurrecting his international career. He said: 'This is a big year and I want to play in the World Cup. It's a hole in my rugby experience so far - I want to play consistently well for England at home and win a World Cup. Maybe that will be enough for me to retire happy .'
