PSV may take Bogarde away

Chelsea misfit Winston Bogarde has been offered the chance to resurrect his career at PSV Eindhoven.

The 33-year-old Stamford Bridge defender, who has played only a handful of games since signing for the club from Barcelona in 2000, has spoken to PSV boss Guus Hiddink about joining them before the close of this month’s transfer window.

Hiddink said: “I have talked with Winston about the possibility of coming to play here and we must now wait and see what happens.”

Any move should be made easier by the fact that Dutchman Bogarde’s £2million-a-year contract expires at the end of the season and Chelsea would be happy to see him go.

Ajax defender Hatem Trabelsi, a target for Chelsea, has said that Arsenal and Italian clubs are also in the hunt for him.

Trabelsi, who is playing for Tunisia in the African Nations Cup, is regarded as one of Africa’s finest defenders and was a target for Manchester United last summer.
