At last Fulham are back at Craven Cottage. Being forced to play their matches away from their spiritual home was a bit like Her Majesty being forced out of Buck House and having to doss down at Claridges for a bit. Bolton, made an impressive start to the season with a 4-1 win over Charlton.

Liverpool v Man City

Robbie Fowler reminded us just what a predatory striker he can still be with a marvellous goal for Manchester City on the opening day of the season but whether the former Liverpool prodigy can repeat that against his old team is doubtful.

Every footballer who has played for Newcastle will tell you how special the club's fans are but Kieron Dyer could be an exception. Spurs will try to make the most of that unsettled atmosphere.

Paul Sturrock has only been at Southampton for five minutes but already, it seems, there are some people who have had enough of him. If he needs any lessons on man-management, he could have a chat with his opposite number at Blackburn, Graeme Souness, who is himself not exactly well known for the softly-softly approach. Rather than putting an arm around his players, Souness prefers grabbing them by the neck.

West Brom v Aston Villa

David O'Leary is not one to learn the lessons of history. After collecting strikers like stamps at Leeds he appears intent on repeating the trick at Villa and is desperate to add James Beattie to a strikeforce comprising Juan Pablo Angel, Darius Vassell, Carlton Cole and Luke Moore. O'Leary seems oblivious to the danger that too many cooks could spoil his Irish broth, but the visitors should still have enough harmony to see off West Brom.

Manchester United v Norwich

I wouldn't have thought that Delia Smith would be checking on the quality of the famous prawn sandwiches at Old Trafford. Delia (above), in fact, will be far too nervous to bother about food as her beloved Norwich try to upset Manchester United this weekend. In past seasons, it would perhaps have been a damagelimitation exercise for the Canaries but this season United are beset by injuries and Nigel Worthington could see a glimmer of a chance for his team.
