Postiga warns Spurs

Helder Postiga today warned he might leave Tottenham before next season unless he is assured of more first-team football.

The Portugal striker, who says his confidence is back after scoring the normal-time equaliser in his country's quarter-final win over England, as well as an outrageous penalty in the shoot-out, had a miserable first year in England, scoring just one goal in 19 Premiership games after his £8million move from Porto.

Postiga, who was on the bench last night as Portugal beat Holland to reach the final of Euro 2004, said: "I am not sure about my future yet. I'm the same player I was a few months ago but over the last three months I didn't get a chance.

"If the manager has confidence in me and shows me he wants me to stay, I'll think about it."

French coach Jacques Santini will be in charge of Spurs. If he wants to keep Postiga he must convince the 21-year-old that the club will be title challengers.

"It was hard for me (last season) as Porto were winning the Champions League and I wanted to play and win something with Tottenham," said Postiga.
