Meanwhile, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy indicated he is prepared to renew his interest in Leeds duo Paul Robinson and James Milner. Spurs have offered £5m for the pair.
Leeds could be in administration by tomorrow and Levy said: "We made an offer in such a way the players could stay at Leeds until the end of the season."
Levy also maintained that Spurs' new manager will speak English, but refused to confirm that Giovanni Trapattoni is the man they have spoken too.
Levy said: "Any manager we appoint will speak English. I think communication is very important."
