"Tottenham are a bigger club than Ajax. Look at the tradition and the fact they play in the English Premiership. Given the choice as a player, I would prefer to play for Tottenham."
Jol spelt out his desire to succeed at Spurs after last night's victory, which earned his side a Cup quarter-final at Newcastle on 13 March.
He said: "This is a very good opportunity for me and the players. Perhaps it is not the best draw going to Newcastle. However, we beat them in the league and we have to be confident.
"I know how important the
FA Cup is to Tottenham, and our supporters were unbelievable."
The fans are also backing Jol, who has transformed Spurs' fortunes since replacing Jacques Santini last October.
In a show of appreciation for his achievements, the 5,000 travelling fans at the City
Ground repeatedly chanted Jol's name and at one stage broke into a chorus of:
"You're Spurs and you know you are."
The victory, however, came at a cost, with
Thimothee Atouba limping off with a hamstring problem and Pedro Mendes suffering a suspected broken toe.
