Players may strike over TV cash

England's footballers could be asked to vote on strike action after their union confirmed they were on the brink of a row with the sport's governing bodies over their slice of TV cash.

The Professional Footballers' Association have been forced to suspend funding for some of their projects and claim that without the money from the TV agreement, they would no longer be able to function.

PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor said today: "We wait to hear from the Premier League, the Football League and the Football Association about the PFA's share of the TV deal - worth £1.8 billion over three years.

"If there's no firm offer, we could be heading for serious industrial action."
