Phillips starts in fine style

Zara Phillips made a fine start at the Burghley Horse Trials.

Riding Toytown, she lies second going into today's dressage stage.

She said: "This is not only my first Burghley but my first four-star event."

European champion Pippa Funnell, who is chasing the Rolex Challenge of £166,000, leads on Primmore's Pride with 39.4 penalty points. Phillips is on 41.8.
