Perri Shakes‑Drayton profits after putting London 2012 pain behind her

“At the time it was devastating but I went on holiday to Jamaica and when I returned I was back into training. It was done and there was nothing I could do to change what happened so I said to myself, ‘there’s no point dwelling on it, Perri’.
“The way I look at it, I’m still a good athlete and there’s is more to come. That just wasn’t my time.”
Shakes-Drayton was not the only British winner in the 400m heats, fellow 400m hurdler Eilidh Child prevailing in heat three in 52.05sec. Shana Cox, the other Briton in the event, finished third in her heat, clocking 52.99sec.
Shara Proctor reached the long jump final with her first attempt.
