Parlour vows to hold up Henry's record bid

Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour says he is determined to stop old team-mate Thierry Henry breaking the club's all-time goal scoring record at Middlesbrough tomorrow.

Henry scored a hat-trick against Norwich last weekend and is now just four goals away from breaking Ian Wright's record of 185.

And although Arsenal are no longer fighting for the title, Arsene Wenger's side will be determined to keep up the heat on secondplaced Manchester United in the race for an automatic Champions League spot.

Middlesbrough have their own European ambitions and are still in the hunt for a UEFA Cup place.

Parlour said: "From memory, Arsenal always do well in the league up here - and always seem to score four goals.

"But I can promise I will be doing my best to change that and if there is a challenge to be made, I will make it. I can assure you of that.

"What we don't want to happen is for Thierry to get the record tomorrow because he is quite capable of scoring four goals in a game.

"But he will get that record soon, no problem. And if he stays at Arsenal for the next few years he will set one which, with the way players move from club to club these days, will never be broken."
