Paphitis slams Campbell's 'dodgy' dossier

"How dare he accuse me of doing nothing to tackle racism. What has he ever done?

"In my opinion he has done more damage to the UK than anyone I can think of. He is a dangerous man and seems to have had his fingerprints on all the controversies there have been in government in the last few years.

"He knows nothing and he had better apologise to everyone who has worked so hard to combat racism at this club."

Paphitis, the son of Greek immigrants, admitted there were probably racists among the crowd at The Den for Millwall's 2-0 win against Burnley.

But he is adamant that he did not hear any racist chanting and has a zero-tolerance approach to such behaviour. He believes the claim from Ternent was sour grapes after two defeats at The Den recently and Campbell, a Burnley fan, must have his own agenda.

Paphitis added: "I have worked my nuts off and we have done more than anyone else to fight racism.

"I have got testimonials from the police, councils and the church about our anti-racism work, pleading with us to keep going.

"I am fed up with white, middleclass people deciding that racism is something they can pick up and drop whenever they feel like it.

"We have been working hard for the last six years and it is a serious issue which is being belittled.

"It is comments like Campbell's which make others want to throw their toys out of the pram and say 'why do we bother?'.

"I am not going to put up with this. He has hit a really sore subject.

"They talk about it but what do they do?

"He should go and stand in Burnley to become a Labour MP and fight against the BNP."

Paphitis is determined to put pressure on Campbell to withdraw his claims about racist abuse.

Paphitis also claims the former special adviser wanted to borrow the helicopter he rents to take him to a Burnley game last season.
