Orient manager Ling gives his full praise to Hunt

Leyton Orient face a tricky away trip to Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup second round after they eased past their East End neighbours Dagenham and Redbridge with a 3-1 victory at Brisbane Road.

Martin Ling singled out Orient midfielder David Hunt for special praise after the 22-yearold scored one goal and created another.

"He hasn't had a good time of it this year, but I thought that was his best game of the season and that should help his confidence no end," said the Orient manager.

Matthew Lockwood put Orient ahead with a 20-yard volley in the 11th minute before Hunt headed in Lee Steele's cross at the far post to double the home side's advantage.

Wayne Carlisle then benefited from Hunt's unselfishness to tap home Orient's third just before the hour mark.

Dagenham substitute Chris Moore scored a late consolation when he converted a penalty with seven minutes remaining.

"It was the perfect way to deal with a nonleague club in the FA Cup," said Ling. "We had too much for them and I was happy with everything except for our [lack of] professionalism at the end."

Non-league sides Yeading and Slough, who have been drawn against each other in the second round, are only one victory away from a possible dream tie against Premiership opposition.

Slough provided one of the biggest shocks of the first round with a 2-1 win over Paul Merson's Walsall side, while Yeading defeated fellow non-league side Halesowen by the same score. Hornchurch's hopes of springing a cup surprise at Boston were dashed when the League Two side recovered from the shock of falling behind to Steve Castle's early goal to run out 5-2 winners.
