Orient consider appeal over Alexander red card

Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling is considered appealing against Gary Alexander's dismissal at Scunthorpe.

The striker was sent off with seven minutes remaining when he appeared to elbow Scunthorpe defender Andy Butler as Orient suffered a 1-0 defeat that damaged their play-off hopes.

Ling will decided whether to pursue the matter after viewing the incident again on video.

"I don't think Gary's challenge was a sending off," said Ling. "I was standing right by it and it was a challenge that was firm but I've never seen Gary lead with his elbow. The linesman didn't signal and the referee sent him off." The defeat, which came courtesy of Andy Keogh's 68th-minute goal, saw Orient drop to 14th place.

Ling's misery was compounded by John Mackie's yellow card in injury time. It was the defender's fifth booking of the season and means he will now serve a one-match ban.
