Closer to hand, Mr Sandancer also boasts Group One entries in the Racing Post Trophy and Longchamp's Grand Criterium on Arc day.
There's distinct reason to be cheerful. Mr Sandancer recorded his career-best effort last time - a marked step up on a successful Newcastle debut that has worked out well - despite failing to handle Goodwood's tricky track. Once he met level ground, he made eye-catching progress and almost snatched third. It was good enough to attract the services of 11-time former champion jockey Pat Eddery for tomorrow's assignment and Sandown's testing seven furlongs is ideal.
On that form the selection holds both Redback and Where Or When, respectively seventh and eighth in the Vintage. The latter is progressive and also failed to handle Goodwood, but there's no reason why he should improve past Mr Sandancer.
With hyped-up Right Approach, owned by the Queen and trained by Stoute, a likely non-runner, the main challenge probably hails from the Loder squadron. Dulcet Spear looks pick of the Newmarket handler's trio of entries, having won a Newbury conditions event in smart style.
Asheer, who chased home Comfy in the Acomb just ten days ago, is another to consider. Kieren Fallon, who rode that winner, must deem the form useful as he's chosen to partner Pip Payne's charge here.
Tholjanah is the offering from Lambourn trainer Marcus Tregoning, who's in red-hot form. This colt impressed on his Kempton debut and is feared.
