Mourinho's double warning

Chelsea arrived in Moscow with just one player unavailable for tomorrow's clash.

Striker Didier Drogba is still recovering from groin surgery and is expected to be back in contention in around a fortnight.

Although Mourinho is expected to rest several players for tomorrow's game he is not prioritising one competition over the other.

He said: "I would rather win both competitions. It's impossible to choose, especially for a club like Chelsea, when the last championship was 50 years ago and the last Champions League was never. More than me the club needs to win something. The only way we can do is to keep thinking about the next game."

Meanwhile, Adrian Mutu, already fighting to save his career after being sacked by Chelsea, is now facing a claim for compensation from the club over his lost transfer value. Lawyers working for the club have been instructed to prepare a ground-breaking case against the player to try to recoup some of the £15.8million transfer fee Chelsea paid Parma in August 2003.

Chelsea estimate they have written off £12m in taking their decision to sack him for gross misconduct after he tested positive for cocaine on 1 October. The Romanian striker faces a Football Association hearing this Thursday.

If he receives a lengthy ban, between six months and two years, Chelsea are likely to drop any claim against him.

But if the FA give him a short ban and programme of rehabilitation, the club are concerned he could sign for a rival on a free transfer.

If that happens they will launch a damages claim against the player and bar him from signing for his new club.
