Mourinho ultimatum to Parker

Jose Mourinho will sell Scott Parker if he can't accept being second choice behind Claude Makelele. The Chelsea manager wants the midfielder to stay at Stamford Bridge, but admits he could be attracted by the lure of first-team football elsewhere. Tottenham, Everton and Birmingham are ready to bid if Parker, 24, decides to move on.

Mourinho said: "He is a great player but at this moment Makelele is ahead of him. He loves the club and he wants to play for me, but he also wants to play regularly and get in the national team.

"If he's ready to wait for his chance, it is fantastic for Chelsea. If he's not, then we have to think about a sale."

Parker was signed for £10million from Charlton in January 2004 but hardly featured in the first team last season.

Meanwhile, new Spurs signing Tom Huddlestone could spend next season playing for former club Derby.

The 18-year-old will be assessed during pre-season training by Spurs head coach Martin Jol, who will decide if the £2.5m defender would benefit from another year in the Championship.

Derby manager George Burley said: "If he isn't in the first team, then I would be interested in taking him back on loan."
