Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said the club would not appeal against UEFA's punishments but added: "We are not overly happy with the decision but we respect the decision.
"I think the panel took the view that there was a misunderstanding in our statements but that those statements were made in good faith.
"By and large the matter has been taken all out of proportion but it was a serious matter and we now want to put it behind us."
Chelsea are understood to be confident they have been cleared of telling lies. Judging by the level of the fines that appears to be the case.
The £33,000 fine is understood to relate mainly to their late return to the pitch for the second-half at the Nou Camp and their failure to attend the post-match press conference, while Mourinho has been banned for a series of inflammatory remarks this season.
Clarke is likely to take charge of the team during the matches against Bayern Munich in the absence of Mourinho.
