Millwall plan away ban on fans

Millwall are considering an away fan ban for all their games next season to prevent a repeat of the riots which followed last week's play-off defeat by Birmingham.

Chairman Theo Paphitis says he is thinking about introducing a range of draconian measures after more than 40 police and 26 of their horses were injured in trouble outside The Den.

They include preventing opposition supporters travelling to Millwall and stopping the club's fans following Mark McGhee's team away, improving street lighting and putting in closed circuit TV cameras around the ground.

The club is also planning to post pictures of hooligans involved in the trouble last Thursday on their website in a bid to bring them to justice.

Paphitis met with police yesterday to discuss what action should be taken and said today: "I went there to offer my sympathies to the officers and horses who were caught up in last week's disgusting violence.

"I do not want our good fans to suffer but we have to make sure their safety and the safety of the police and local community is protected. We will do whatever needs to be done to prevent a repeat of the horrific situation we had last week.
