McSorley, whose side finished the regular season in fourth place, said: "There's no place but the play-offs. To me they are the most important championship of the year. I want to win this more than any other trophy."

Knights beat Belfast 3-0 in February but McSorley warned: "Belfast are a very dangerous team - depending on which teams shows up.

"Coach Dave Whistle has done a marvellous job this year and they have every facet a good team needs. We need to make sure our best play-ers outperform their best players."

The Knights will have Paul Rush-forth back from injury for this weekend's games.

London's remaining Group A playoff fixtures see them entertain Nottingham on 18 March, go to Belfast on 20 March, at home to Sheffield on 22 March and then travel to Sheffield on 25 March.

The semi-finals will be held on Saturday 31 March at Nottingham, followed by the final the next day.

Meanwhile, tomorrow's Challenge Cup Final in Belfast is set to go ahead despite calls from the Northern Ireland Assembly to cancel the game because of the foot-and-mouth crisis.

The Football Association of Ireland, the Irish Rugby Football Union and the Gaelic Athletic Association have already cancelled their programmes in the province and Belfast has also lost out on staging the International Indoor Bowls series.

But a crowd of 8,000 is expected at Belfast's Odyssey Arena tomorrow night to see Sheffield take on the Ayr Scottish Eagles. Superleague chief executive Ian Taylor said: "The final will go ahead unless the UK government agency tells us it shouldn't."

Peter Collins, Belfast's communications director, added: "We have been advised by virtually everyone not to go ahead with the fixture but we have acted under the guidance of the Superleague and they have been guided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

"The MAFF said there was no reason to cancel games in the league but that teams should dissuade people from travelling if they are from a rural area."
