Mark Ramprakash century lifts ailing Surrey

Mark Ramprakash has put Gloucestershire's unbeaten run in the Friends Provident Trophy to the test with a century for Surrey in their Group C clash at the Brit Oval.

Ramprakash's 121, scored off 124 balls, included nine fours and three sixes as Surrey — who had lost three of their four matches this season in the tournament — reached 306 for six from their 50 overs.

The visitors had recorded five wins from as many matches but former England star Ramprakash was unfazed by the task ahead as he did his best to set a total which would put that run under threat.

The 39-year-old was backed up by Matthew Spriegel, who hit 64 and contributed to a stand of 96, as he recorded the 105th first-class century of his career.

Usman Afzaal and Michael Brown both hit 34 as the home side made it past the 300 mark despite the fall of two wickets in the closing overs.

At Headingley, Yorkshire grabbed the upper hand in their Group C match against Durham when dismissing the visitors for just 166 as after Rich Pryor took three for 23.
