Manchester grind out win over Leicester

Manchester Grammar School reached the Daily Mail U18 Cup semi-finals for the first time after a hard-fought 15-3 win over Leicester Grammar.

The visitors played with a gale in the first half and although they took an early lead with a penalty were unable to get any more points on the board in the first half and Manchester managed to sneak a try just before the break.

After both wingers had dropped scoring passes, Tom Williams ran from 22 to 22 before popping the inside scoring pass to centre Will Jagger. Full back Alistair Buchan converted from in front of the posts and after half time both he and Tom Murphy kept Leicester under pressure with somejudicious touch kicking.

Buchan extended the lead to 10-3 with another penalty and then finished off Leicester by chasing his own kick and andcollecting an attempted clearance to score.
