Maidstone top the century

Maidstone Grammar could be a dark horse from Kent after two impressivewins, 50-0 at Dover Grammar and 53-15 at home over Oakwood Park, theirlocal rivals.

It was pretty one-sided at Dover where Maidstone played totheir strengths, relying on expansive running rugby which produced eighttries and an early finish eight minutes into the second half.

Oakwood, whohave never beaten Maidstone at first team level, arrived with one of theirbest teams for years and showed it in a ferocious opening 20 minute spell.

They took the lead with a penalty, Maidstone replied with two tries and aconversion but the visitors came back with a try of their own to make it12-8 at half time.

But Oakwood could not sustain their big effort and onceMaidstone were able to keep the ball alive in the second half they ran awaywith the game.

Dave Stubbins scored three, Alex Moore produced aspectacular solo try and Aidan Bayley orchestrated it all from fly half.
