Lyon wait for Wiltord

Sylvain Wiltord is a target for French champions Olympique Lyon.

They are preparing a £5million bid for the Arsenal striker, who is in talks at Highbury about a new contract.

Wiltord, the club's record signing at £11m from Bordeaux three years ago, has one year left on his present deal and would like to extend that by another three. Arsenal are only offering two more years. "What I am looking for is more security," said Wiltord, who is due back at Arsenal along with French team-mates Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires and Thierry Henry this week.

Lyon are desperate for a striker of proven experience after losing Brazilian Sonny Anderson to Spanish club Villareal.

Paris St Germain - £21m million better off after selling Ronaldinho to Barcelona - are also keen on 29-year-old Wiltord.

One player who insists he will not be leaving Arsenal is Dutch midfielder Giovanni van Bronckhorst, despite PSV Eindhoven manager Guus Hiddink's interest. Van Bronckhorst, who has also been linked to Celtic this summer, wants to stay. "It is hard for an ex-Rangers player to sign for Celtic," he said. "But I have no intention of leaving Arsenal. I am very happy here and I am feeling as fit as ever."

Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has joined up with the Arsenal squad in Austria following his £1m move from Borussia Dortmund.

The 34-year-old German international completed his move on Friday, with Arsenal's French keeper Guillaume Warmuz moving in the opposite direction. Manager Arsene Wenger said: "I have tried on one or two occasions in the past to get him but before Dortmund did not want to sell him. I believe it will give us lift. Even Stuart Taylor accepts that he is maybe a little bit too young to lead the team for a whole season."
