Logan: Misses are out of my system now

Scotland goalkicker Kenny Logan yesterday insisted his confidence remained unaffected by crucial misses in the Six Nations draw with Wales.

Captain Andy Nicol took the responsibility away from the Wasps winger in the final minute at Murrayfield a fortnight ago, allowing Duncan Hodge to earn a 28-28 stalemate.

It was the latest in a long line of controversies to surround Logan and his goalkicking prowess.

But Logan said: 'It only takes a couple of days to get it out of your system. Then you have to be back at your best because you cannot let it affect you. Jonny Wilkinson talks about games where he misses kicks, but we all have days like that.

'If you go and play well against England it is all forgotten about. One thing I have learned about supporters is that they forget very quickly.' Logan missed last year's stunning success over England at Murrayfield because he was dropped after three games of an abysmal Scottish campaign in which his goalkicking frailties were also exposed. Ironically, his goalkicking nightmare against Wales overshadowed what many observers believed was his best all-round performance in a Scotland shirt.

Scotland name their team for Twickenham today and Logan feels they are on a high after the Wales draw.

'It was one of the best fightbacks I've ever seen by a Scottish team I've been involved in,' he said.
