Ljungberg: We must stay calm for Spurs test

Freddie Ljungberg said today that Arsenal must quickly forget the euphoria of their last-gasp Champions League win against Dynamo Kiev and concentrate on beating Tottenham on Saturday.

The Swede said: "We need to calm down now and focus on Saturday. It is a derby game and the fans will be up for it, so there should be no problem about concentrating." Ljungberg admitted that Ashley Cole's late diving header rescued Arsenal from another Champions League embarrassment, although they remain bottom of Group B with just four points from four games.

He said: "The pressure was on us. It was a little embarrassing to have just one point but hopefully this will be a turning point. We played very well in the first half but couldn't get the ball in the net. Their goalkeeper made some great saves and when things like that happen you start to think that it is not going to be your day. We showed some great character and did not lie down and die when we couldn't score. If we had lost it would have been a disaster."

Arsenal now face a make or break away game with Group B leaders Inter Milan on 25 November and Sol Campbell said: "We want to be in the final stages of the Champions League but we know we have to win at the San Siro and win our last game (at home to Lokomotiv Moscow).

"When the chances were not going for us a little bit of doubt crept in as the clock ticked down. Hopefully this will be the turning point for us. Everyone will be up for the next game because we want the points more than Inter." Unbeaten in the Premiership so far this season, Arsenal have failed to produce their domestic form on the European stage and Campbell feared the elusive breakthrough would not materialise against Kiev.

He added: "I thought it was never going to happen. It was very frustrating. We had a few chances but they didn't go our way. Thankfully Ashley popped up at the end and it was a vital goal. It was such a relief for us."
