Liverpool can't win, says Shev

Andriy Shevchenko today claimed Liverpool can't win the European Cup and it would be better for football if his AC Milan side were playing Chelsea.

The Ukraine striker is full of confidence before tomorrow's clash in Istanbul which could see Milan crowned European champions for the second time in three years.

Despite Liverpool's 1-0 aggregate victory over Jose Mourinho's side in last month's semi-final, Shevchenko is dismissive of their chances.

The European Footballer of the Year said: "Liverpool won't win. I said at the start of the season Liverpool couldn't win the Champions League and I still don't think they will. They've got this far and given themselves a chance, but Milan will win."

Speaking to this week's issue of Nuts magazine, he added: "Chelsea and Milan have been the two most talked-about teams in Europe this season, and rightly so. We're the only teams to have beaten Barcelona and, at the start of the season, people were saying Barcelona would win the whole thing. It would've been great to play Chelsea in the final, but I'm confident of Milan's superiority to any team in the world."

Shevchenko also reiterated his desire to stay at Milan and reject any possible move to Chelsea. He added: "I like Roman Abramovich. We speak on the phone but I am not rushing to join Chelsea."
