Ling keen to sign Chillingworth

Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling is keen to sign Daniel Chillingworth on a permanent basis after the Cambridge United striker impressed during a one-month loan spell.

The 23-year-old, who scored twice in eight matches for Orient, has returned to Cambridge today following the 0-0 draw at Bury on Saturday. However, Lee Barnard, who has been on loan from Tottenham for two months, will not be extending his stay with the League Two side.

Orient's goalless draw at Bury extended their unbeaten run to five matches, though it was the home side that came closest to making the breakthrough.

Lee Harrison saved a first-half penalty to deny Bury's Danny Swailes. The visitors' best opportunity fell to Chillingworth but Bury keeper Andy Marriott produced a fine save.

Ling, however, took comfort from a result that lifts Orient up one position and into the play-off zone. He said: "There's a resilience in the side."
