Lewsey: I feel for Jonny

Not being able to experience the buzz must feel like a part of them is missing and I just hope they can get back as soon as possible. At least Jonny has played some matches for Newcastle, although the injuries have stopped him putting the kind of run together to allow an England return. Jonny has been with us at the England team hotel in Bagshot on a regular basis which raises the question, doesn't he have a home to go to?

But seriously, Jonny has been working with our medical team, who are monitoring his progress. He is a world-class player but Charlie Hodgson has stepped up and done a fantastic job at outside-half.

Indeed, we saw against Italy the way we want to use the ball and our aim is to build on that performance against Scotland at Twickenham in our final Six Nations match on Saturday.

The nature of sport means that when a player such as Jonny isn't available you just have to get on with things. You are so committed to the England cause that you are not affected by who is not around and to a great extent it's a case of looking after yourself. That's just the way it is.

Our entire focus is on putting in another winning performance against a Scotland side that have nothing to lose at Twickenham and like nothing better than beating the English.

I know some people are talking about our match being "after the Lord Mayor's show" because it kicks off last on Saturday and follows Wales's bid to win the Grand Slam against Ireland in Cardiff.

That's certainly not our attitude and having won our first championship match last weekend, there is a real desire to build on that performance.

We had worked hard all week to make the best use of our ball against Italy by ensuring our shape and pattern of play were right. We did that during the match and it was the most pleasing aspect of the win. What you saw was the kind of rugby we want to produce .

My brother Edward, who plays for Exeter, is going to Cardiff to support Wales and I hope he sees a Grand Slam because the Welsh have produced the most adventurous rugby in the championship. However, I have a feeling that Ireland possess the kind of hard-nosed professionalism to record an away victory. That should give them the edge.
