Lewsey anguish over 'try'

England winger Josh Lewsey is convinced the disallowed try which cost England victory in Dublin should have been allowed to stand.

The Wasps star was denied a score which would have given England their first Six Nations win of the campaign after South African referee Jonathan Caplan failed to refer the incident to the video referee allowing Ireland to cling on to their 19-13 lead.

Lewsey said: "I got the ball to ground . . . it was definitely on the turf. I let go after the referee whistle and they scooped it back and he said it was a turn over for Ireland.

"I realise that it's just Test match rugby and sometimes you get the rub of the green and others time not. We were hard done by."

Ireland's Johnny O'Connor dismissed Lewsey's claims saying he was holding the ball as it went to ground under a bundle of bodies. "It definitely wasn't a try because I had the ball," said the London Wasps flanker.

England coach Andy Robinson called for more use of video technology - a plea backed by assistant Phil Larder.
