Harker says: "We've issued lots of warnings about danger from flying cricket balls.
"We've discussed safety measures like wearing hard hats on the campus until Lara leaves town, and I am sure student accommodation will have windows shut and blinds drawn when Lashings are batting.
"With no third umpire on duty and no television replays, we could strike lucky with a barrage of appeals.
"The only problem is that if we dismiss Lara cheaply, we then have to get through the rest of their batting." Amer Saleem, a 25 year-old fast bowler for Surrey championship club Spencer, is also desperate for Lara's scalp.
Saleem says: "I'll bowl line and length and bore him stiff. That's the way to stifle genius."
Steve Grey, a 6ft 3ins history student, from Daventry is praying for rain.
"Give me a wet pitch and Lara won't get a sniff. Pompey university's batsmen are still talking about my 10 overs for nine runs against them last summer.
"Lara lives the life of a multi-millionaire sportsman. I drive a K-reg Peugeot 106. But every cricketer has his day."
