"It all depends on his confidence now because he's someone who definitely has the class," said Lara. The West Indies captain can speak from recent experience: when England were cruising to a 3-0 lead in the Caribbean four months ago, Lara looked low on self-belief and runs.
But after making 100 runs in six innings, the left-hander suddenly felt good again - and responded with that world record 400 not out in Antigua. "My game is all about confidence," said Lara. "So long as I'm full of confidence it doesn't matter who I'm up against I know I'm going to do well."
Even when Steve Harmison is on a roll?
"He's a very good bowler but the more you get accustomed to a bowler they peter out into something you can handle," added Lara. "I'm expecting our guys, after the Caribbean experience, to adapt to his style of bowling."
