The absence of Edwards is clearly a big blow, however. Some of his deliveries in Jamaica topped 95mph and he captured the wickets of Marcus Trescothick, Michael Vaughan and Mark Butcher before breaking down.
Surprisingly, the selectors have chosen to replace him with a steady seamer, leftarmer Pedro Collins, rather than calling up another young tearaway quick bowler like Ravi Rampaul or Dwight Washington.
Collins, Edwards's half brother, played the last of his 19 Tests a year ago and has taken 55 wickets at an average of 40 apiece.
